Mateo meets Carlota and Eva

We met our fiends and their babies for the first time. Eva, Carlota and Mateo meet for the first time although they will not remember this.

Saturday Jun 29th.

We finally got around to meet with my friends Carlos & Irene, who had a baby-girl, Carlota, now three months old. They had their child just a mater of days after our gender reveal party, but had not got around to see them since. Since then Josean & Paloma have also had their first baby, also a girl, Eva, only 20 days old. Since I was starting work, after my 6 weeks of leave, the next day, we found a moment to meet together at a terrace near Conde de Casal. My good friend Pablo could also join.

We decided to meet between 18:30 and 19:00 in a bar called La Vinatera, a nice place with plenty of space and good “tapas” and “raciones”. Since it was not very far from home and could potentially walk back from there we decided to take a short bus ride to metro Sainz de Baranda and walk down hill to the meeting place, that way I didn’t have to bother with finding a place to park. The day was sunny but quite windy and this came into play later in the evening as the temperatures went down.

Mariel, Mateo and I arrived early and found Josean, Paloma, the baby Eva and a couple who were their friends already there sitting at a table outside in the terrace. They had met with these friends early since they had to leave soon. Anyway Eva was so cute.

The rest of the party arrives

Mateo soon was a little moody, first he was hungry and Mariel went upstairs to the empty floor of the restaurant to breastfeed him for a while. During this Pablo arrived bearing gifts for the newborns. A very cute fluffy Owl toy that plays music and projects stars in the ceiling, very cute. Not much after Carlos, Irene and Carlota arrived.

Not much latter temperatures started to go down and it and it got windier, Mateo was getting cold so we wrapped him in a blanket. He was still in a very needy mood so we took turns to hold him.

We ordered some food, croquetas, jamon inberico y pulpo, para compartir.

Carlota also started to cry a little but Eva was, for now still sound asleep. We started using the up-stairs quarters as our private room to change and feed the baby’s. The owners actually suggested that we could use it and were very tolerant to the circumstances.

It turns out that Carlota was born the 20th of March, exactly 2 months before Mateo.

We had cheese cake and chocolate coulant for dessert and took some photos of the fathers with the babies and forgot about the mothers.

Yep, that happened.

Not so much an excuse but an explanation: As I say it was getting cold and the babies were uncomfortable and we had order for the bill, and it arrived so we kind of forgot to take the next round of photos.

When we left, we decided to try the same route as when we came, although this time it was a walk uphill. It seemed that going into the trouble of taking the metro, with Mateo, for just one stop, for later taking the bus was too complicated. Mateo was crying a bit so I hold him while Mariel pushed the empty trolley, at least until he fell asleep and I put Mateo in the trolley.

By the time we got to Sainz de Baranda Mateo was asleep and we were enjoying the walk so decided to walk al the way home.

Mateo’s first trip to Hoyo

We went to Hoyo, had lunch in El cerrillo and Jamón Iberico for dinner at home.

My parents have a flat in a urbanization in Hoyo de Manzanares in the mountain side of Guadarrama in the proximity of Madrid. It is a nice place to spend part of the summer vacations since the temperature there is cooler than in Madrid and the swimming pool is very appreciated. Also the walk possibilities in Nature just out the main entry of the urbanization.

My parents, Mariel, Mateo and I went all 5 in my parents car to Hoyo, arriving there in the morning in time to have a coffee and some sweets as a second breakfast. After breakfast my dad and I had a quick detour to Alpedrete to pick up my car form the workshop. More details on that in a specific post for later.

We had lunch in “El Cerrillo” a restaurant in town.

Had dinner at home.

We stayed in Hoyo al Saturday just enjoying life with Mateo and Mateo getting to know better his grandparents!
